We all know by now that the Fide World Cup in Tbilisi, Georgia has started with reigning World Chess Champion Carlsen winning with the white pieces against FM Balogun. 

Out of 128 hopefuls, our Filipino compatriots Wesley So (representing the US) and Julio Catalino Sadorra are also participants in this very prestigious event where they were paired respectively (in Round 1) against FM Ruiz Castillo and GM Matlakov.

After the first round, So won while Sadorra lost.
