Buffet at Spiral Restaurant (Hotel Sofitel, Pasay City)

I can remember that the first time I had an “eat all you can promo” was at Pizza Hut.  I liked Pizza Hut’s “eat all you can pizza” at their Branch in Makati City so much that I also tried their promo at Robinsons Galleria together with my friends. I think we ordered Pizza more than we can eat.  And since we have to avoid paying the additional fine for leftovers, we tried to consume everything as if it was gluttony. Yet, what I realize from the experience is that an “eat all you can promo” is always better with friends and families and without consuming too much iced tea.

That Pizza Hut’s eat “all you can pizza promo” may have started the craze. Years after, several eat all you can restaurants began to sprout in the Metropolis. I have tried Tramway Restaurant’s buffet both in Quezon City and Pasay City including Cabalen that serves all Filipino food, Yakimix, Tong Yang, Dad's Kamayan, City Buffet, Passion at Maxims and Vikings.

But with all “eat all you can buffet restaurants” that I have tried in Metro Manila, there is nothing as spectacular and delicious as Spiral Restaurant in Hotel Sofitel. There are 21 ateliers to choose from!  An “atelier” according to the hotel’s website is “an artist’s special workshop in France”.  In Sofitel’s Spiral Restaurant it is “where secret recipes are masterfully prepared”. True enough, Spiral Restaurant is a special workshop of culinary treats. The best food from all over the world is here - from salads to chocolates and from Chinese to Filipino food. Name it and Spiral Restaurant has it!

Hotel Sofitel is located at the CCP Complex in Pasay City near the rumored haunted building of the Manila Film Center.  It had been our plan that before my sister travels back to the US, we would try this famous buffet.  Last October 19, we got the chance to experience the buffet at Hotel Sofitel’s Spiral Restaurant which is exemplified by the spiral stairs that greet visitors to the buffet.

We arrived at the Hotel Sofitel at 12 Noon. But it is better to arrive a little earlier. Arriving at noontime means a lot of guests queuing for the experience. It may be better to arrive at around 10 am to have enough time for admiring the hotel’s ambiance. At first, we were ushered near the poolside but we later on transferred near the buffet table.  I have been hearing a lot about this buffet in Sofitel and guests have nothing but good words to say about the experience.  After trying the buffet, I can say that this hotel’s buffet is indeed absolutely awesome!

I was totally overwhelmed by so many food choices. It was really a “buffet” literally. I had a difficult time choosing where to start. With a variety of food choices ranging from different countries, all forms of gastronomic desires are satisfied and filled in this buffet.  A day is not enough to fully cover the 21 ateliers! This buffet is indeed extraordinary and every food enthusiast should try this epicurean delight.
