Igorot Inspired Chess Pieces

Chess is a game that is played all over the world. As such, various designs of chess pieces exist from either conceptualized after watching a Star Wars Movie or while relaxing in a Zen Garden. Chess pieces have also inspired almost everything in our daily existence from works of art and life itself.

I cannot recall the very first time I saw chess pieces whose design was inspired by the Igorots  of the Cordilleras or Baguio City.  But, I was really fascinated to see this type of chess pieces. Its originality and concept is something we can be proud of. The pieces are usually made of "kamagong" often referred to as the "ironwood" which is now rare and expensive.
