Places to Visit in Baguio City
Despite the rapid development and the rarity of the
Pine Scented smell of the air, there are still several places worth the visit
to Baguio City.
BenCab Museum - when I got here after around a thirty (30) minute Jeepney ride from the Baguio City Market, there is already a long queue of people waiting to get inside the museum. The minimal fee is worth it as there are an endless array of art pieces on display for your appreciation. There is also an eco-trail great for a short walk and with a relaxing view.

Baguio Country Club - if you are in
Baguio, it is a privilege to be able to visit this exclusive and historical
establishment. Though this club is exclusive to its members, I included this in
the list as a place to visit when in Baguio given its amenities. The late chess
legend Bobby Fischer is said to have visited this Country Club.
Camp John Hay - this is the
place to relive and experience that good old Baguio everyone used to know. If
you are in Camp John Hay, with all the Pine Trees and vegetation, it is easy to
imagine how Baguio looked like during the early 80s. Inside Camp John Hay,
there is the Manor Hotel, Forest Lodge, Le Monet Hotel, The Bell House and the
Cemetery of Negativism.
Burnham Park - no one visits
Baguio without setting foot on this famous park. But aside from the boat ride,
take time to pass by the nearby Rizal Shrine. See also the chess players
silently contemplating the best move against their respective opponents in the
Igorot Park near Hotel Veniz.
Solibao, La Parilla
and Good Taste Restaurants - these are the three best restaurants in Baguio
City. What I like most is Solibao with branches in Session Road and inside
Burnham Park. The native Pluto Bumbong is a sell out in Solibao. La Parilla has
a great ambiance with its garden dining area. Good Taste is a value for money
restaurant where food is magnanimously served and reasonably priced. Look closer in their menu and you will find vegan options.
Baguio City Market - Just like any
market, everything is practically here. But, unlike any other market, Baguio
City Market is the only market that is a tourist attraction by itself. Items
here are a lot cheaper and fresher. Just go inside and you will see that taking
time to pass by here before going home is one of the best moves you will ever
make when visiting Baguio.
