How To Manage Covid-19 Anxiety

"Covid-19", "lockdown" and "quarantine" became popular words in just a matter of days with the following net effect - almost everyone (except for health workers and Frontliners) was required to stay home.

Given this unprecedented scenario, where everyone is supposed to be at home and with practically nothing to do, anxiety often sets in. I understand that the present situation is not an ideal one. It seems that what is happening is something straight out of the movies like in Contagion and World War Z. No one ever expected this to happen. Many are anxious, worried and scared that even if they do not actually have the symptoms of Covid-19, they somehow feel like they do.

To those who are at home and are anxious or are worried, taking a break from social media and all the bad news may help. Take a break talking about Covid-19 and its symptoms for a while. Remember that "the more we talk about an ailment, even the common cold, the worse it seems to get."

Instead of worrying about the situation (which will not help anyway) why not enjoy the time with your family, play chess online or simply read a book that inspires and builds confidence such as  David J. Schwartz's "The Magic of Thinking Big". Trust that we will all get through this and our success will be "determined not so much by the size of one's brain as it is by the size of one's thinking."

The present situation has taught us a lot of lessons. But what is more important right now is to show our support to all our health workers and Frontliners. Let us not contribute to their burden by staying home.
