Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
According to the author, you will hear the crawdads sing. It will be a chorus if you listen carefully. Alone, go to a remote, wild land filled with Earth’s creatures just before dusk. Deep into the woods. Feel the Earth beneath your toes and hear them sing.
Imagine doing this and actually hearing the crawdads sing. It will definitely be a very amazing and rare experience. If you cannot hear the songs of the crawdads, read a poem. Perhaps, reading a poem is somehow similar to that experience.
The novel is a very relaxing read. You get to think a lot. You get the opportunity to feel a lot. Definitely, words can create those worlds you never thought existed. A book can give you that kind of experience very different from how you live your life.
To read this book by Owens is to step back into your coming-of-age kind of life. It is to rediscover what you have known about yourself and the world around you. You also get the chance to rediscover a new world like that where Kya lived.
It is said that there will be a movie adaptation of this novel. If there is, I would definitely like to see it. I hope the movie gives justice to this book and to Kya.
