Beautiful in My Eyes

I have decided to leave my home country to study in Canada as an international student. It is almost more than a year since I have made that life-changing decision. Do I regret making the decision? Or should I have decided differently? Is it worth taking the risk? These are some questions that you would ask yourself when you arrive in Canada as an international student. When I arrived in Canada, I realized that the struggle is indeed real.

Whenever I feel stressed, I often take a walk in beautiful parks here in Toronto. Walking in parks is a good way to relieve stress. Imagine walking in parks in Toronto and listening to a beautiful song -

Beautiful in My Eyes by Joshua Kadison

Sang by Jed Madela

“You're my peace of mind

In this crazy world

You're everything I've tried to find

Your love is a pearl

You're my Mona Lisa, you're my rainbow skies

And my only prayer is that you realize

You'll always be beautiful in my eyes

The world will turn

And the seasons will change

And all the lessons we will learn

Will be beautiful and strange

We'll have our fill of tears, our share of sighs

My only prayer is that you realize

You'll always be beautiful in my eyes

You will always be beautiful in my eyes

And the passing years will show

That you will always grow

Evermore beautiful in my eyes

And there are lines upon my face

From a lifetime of smiles

But when the time comes to embrace

For one long last while

We can laugh about it, how time really flies

We won't say goodbye, 'cause true love never dies

You'll always be beautiful in my eyes

You will always be beautiful in my eyes

And the passing years will show

That you will always grow

Evermore beautiful in my eyes

The passing years will show

That you will always grow

Evermore beautiful in my eyes

I usually walk in Morningside Park in Toronto. What I admire about this park is that it is relatively clean. But, there are times when I see litter such as coffee cups, cigarette butts, and other plastics. Please throw litter at the garbage bins. Do not leave empty cups on the side park benches and throw them anywhere. I have noticed that there are garbage bins in almost every corner. Let us do our share in keeping the park clean and garbage-free.

If you visit Canada, you will appreciate walking in parks. You will see different kinds of animals. There are rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, wild ducks, and deer. Yes, on several occasions, I saw a deer. You can also hear the singing of different kinds of birds. This shows how wildlife is protected in Canada.

The best time to take a walk in the park is during the autumn or fall season. It is at this time when the leaves of trees began to change its color. The leaves change their color from green to yellow, red, orange, and brown. When the leaves have fallen from the branches, the environment resonates with a sentimental atmosphere. The bare trees appear to be pieces of art. Looking at those trees without leaves makes you very sentimental.

The simple act of walking can relieve stress and make you relax. You would love and hate Canada because of its cold weather. To enjoy the cold weather, you have to dress appropriately. The weather app is fairly accurate in predicting the weather. By checking the weather before you leave home, you can dress according to the demands of the weather conditions.

In a few months after arriving in Canada, getting used to the cold weather is a challenge. Wearing several layers of clothes is very uncomfortable. Due to the very cold conditions especially during the winter, it is necessary to learn how to “layer up”. Layering for cold weather conditions requires the use of at least a three-piece outfit that consists of a base layer, a middle layer, and an outer layer. This technique of wearing clothes during the winter is a flexible, versatile, and effective way of insulating yourself against the cold Canadian weather.

It has been more than a year since I arrived in Canada. I am still at that stage of trying to reach my goal. It is not easy to leave your comfort zone. It is difficult to be a student and study in a foreign country. It is not easy to start a new life. However, taking no risk in life is also a risk. Not doing anything to change your life is something you will regret. Time moves fast. Whenever there is an opportunity to change your life, you have take that opportunity. It is said that opportunity knocks only once.

“Beautiful in My Eyes”, is a song that reminds us that seasons will change. In Canada, you will experience the four seasons - winter, spring, summer, and fall. What is important is that whatever the season might be, we must see the distinctive beauty in every season. Nothing is permanent. The only thing permanent in this world is change in itself. Whatever the season may be, we need to be strong. We should not allow any obstacle to stop us from reaching our goal.
